Woman killed on walk of fame

Woman killed on walk of fame, Los Angeles police said three panhandlers were each being held on $1 million bail and were expected to be arraigned and charged today in the fatal stabbing of a woman near the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Christine Calderon, 23, of Lynwood, Calif., was walking with a friend Tuesday evening near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue when they saw three men panhandling and holding signs, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a news release.

The victim and her friend took photos of the men with their cellphones as they were holding their signs. A dispute ensued, and ultimately the victim was stabbed in the torso," the LAPD said.

When police arrived at the scene in the heart of Hollywood's tourist district, they said officers found Calderon with apparent stab wounds.

Calderon was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where police said she died during surgery. The LAPD said it had not been informed of any injuries to anyone else.

The attack was reportedly triggered when one of the men demanded Calderon pay $1 for the photo, but detectives said they were still interviewing witnesses to determine a motive.

The suspects were identified as Dustin Kinnear, 27; Jason Wolstone, 33; and Brian Widdows, 34. They have not yet entered a plea.
